CREW RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (CRM) FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

The aims of the Crew Resource Management Foundation Programme are:

  1. To enhance Flight Safety, by raising awareness of how the effects of stress and fatigue adversely affect Human Performance and Decision Making.
  2. To raise an individual’s ‘capacity’ by equipping them with a thorough understanding of Personality Type and how to recognise (and therefore, resolve) the predictable behavioural changes that take place when an individual is exposed to a stressful situation.
  3. To bring all participants to the same foundation training level that is now mandated worldwide and is recognised as essential knowledge by the UKCAA, EASA, FAA and ICAO.
  4. To encourage and foster a desire for continued learning in the area of Human Factors in Aviation, such that participants will see the programme as the first step in a career long journey of positive attitudes and best practice in aviation.
  5. To develop Teamwork and Leadership at a critical stage in professional development.
  6. To develop an understanding in the following areas of CRM:

    a. The Need for CRM
    b. Situational Awareness
    c. Human Error
    d. Decision Making
    e. Personality Type
    f. Cross-Cockpit Gradient
